Your Therapy Sessions

First Visit

You can expect a thorough evaluation from a Licensed Physical Therapist in order to establish a customized treatment plan that will assist you in meeting your functional goals. During this evaluation you will have the opportunity to discuss your condition, help set goals for your therapy, and gain a good understanding of what you may expect from attending physical therapy. At the end of the first treatment, you will receive a copy of your home exercise program. Expect approximately 1 hour on the first visit. Please remember to bring your insurance card, and, if you are required to obtain one, your physical therapy prescription/referral from your doctor.

Attire

You should dress in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. We recommend supportive footwear and gym clothes to participate in exercise instruction. Shorts are appropriate for hip/knee/ankle/foot problems and tank-tops or sleeveless shirts are appropriate for neck/shoulder/upper body problems.

Referring Physician Communication

Communication with your referring physician is an important part of your therapy to ensure consistent quality care as changes and progression occurs. You should expect a Physician Progress Note to be faxed or sent with you each time you return to your physician.

Attendance and Compliance

It is important for you to realize that active participation in your health care is absolutely vital to a successful physical therapy experience. Two of the most important things you can do to speed up your recovery are 1) attend your scheduled appointments and 2) perform your prescribed home exercise program. Your physician or therapist determines the number of visits that will be appropriate for your condition. We understand that situations will arise that make it difficult to keep all of your appointments. If you are unable to make an appointment, we ask that you give us a 24-hour notice of cancellation.
